GUIDELINES FOR ANCILLARY FUNDS DURING COVID-19
Australian Taxation Office
The Government has created an incentive for ancillary funds to increase their minimum required distribution (5% for Public Ancillary Funds and 4% for Private Ancillary Fund) to organisations (with DGR Item 1 status) by at least 4% in 2019-20 and 2020-21 combined: “For example, a private ancillary fund makes an annual distribution of 8% in 2019–20 and 7% in 2020–21. This is 5% above the minimum over the two financial years. The fund will be entitled to a 2.5% credit. The fund is now able to reduce their annual distributions by up to 1% from 2021–22, until their credits are exhausted. This incentive should encourage many PAFs and PuAFs to distribute even more to support organisations in need at this time.

Volunteering on the other hand is being severely hampered by isolation requirements, regardless of how strong people’s desires may be to help..."

APOLLO 13 AND YOUR FUNDRAISING STRATEGY DURING COVID-19
AskRIGHT Article

Last month marked the 50th anniversary of NASA’s Apollo 13 mission. You probably know the story: a relatively “straightforward” mission to begin with, but, at about three-quarters of the way to the moon, everything changes when an oxygen tank explodes. Suddenly, the mission to land on the moon becomes the mission to get the crew back to Earth alive. In recognition of the anniversary, I re-watched the movie Apollo 13, starring Tom Hanks and Ed Harris, during the alert level 4 coronavirus lockdown here in New Zealand. What follows are some thoughts I take from the movie and the strategy lessons we can learn from this incredible moment in history...

ADAPTING YOUR ASK
AGSA Webinar

AskRIGHT Director, Dr Daniel McDiarmid, presented a webinar last week about the need for schools to re-frame their strategies as, due to COVID-19, previous development and community engagement strategies may no longer be appropriate. The webinar was hosted by the Alliance of Girls Schools Australasia (AGSA) and Alliance members can access the recording on the AGSA website.
